NUIO App

One simple, intuitive tool to customize your NUIO Keyboard.

The NUIO app provides real-time updates including battery levels and charging status. In addition, the app allows you to receive firmware updates, low battery notifications and adjust keyboard settings to create a setup that works perfectly for you.

Updating your Flow Keyboard firmware (Windows)

Requires the NUIO app from the Microsoft Store (version 1.0.3 or later) on Windows 10 (version 1809 or later) or Windows 11, and a PC with Bluetooth. Current Windows firmware: Left 01.00.154 · Right 01.00.217. Last updated: September 2026.

Firmware updates keep both halves of your Flow Keyboard in sync and deliver the latest fixes. The whole process takes 10–15 minutes and updates the left half first, then the right.

Before you start
  • Charge both halves to at least 20%, or leave the keyboard plugged in during the update. (The app won't start an update below 10%.)
  • Keep your PC awake and the NUIO app open until the update finishes.
  • Have the keyboard within a few feet of your PC.
  • Using the keyboard with a Mac too? The Windows app installs Windows-specific firmware (right-half versions starting 01.00.2). If your right half currently shows a version starting 01.00.1, contact support@hellonuio.com before updating — moving a keyboard to the Windows firmware line can't be reversed.
Update the firmware
  1. Turn on your Flow Keyboard and pair it with your PC if you haven't already (Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Add device). If Windows asks for a code, type it on the Flow Keyboard and press Enter.
  2. Install the NUIO app from the Microsoft Store: https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9NVH73M8V6L7 — click Install (the Store app opens to finish).
  3. Open the app. It finds your keyboard automatically; click it if more than one device is listed. The keyboard page shows both firmware versions and battery levels.
  4. If an update is available, the app lists it (Left, Right, or both). Click Update Firmware.
  5. Wait for both halves to finish. The left half updates first, then the right; each half restarts when it's done — this is normal. If progress pauses at "Waiting for the keyboard to reconnect", press any key on the keyboard to wake it.
  6. When the app shows Firmware updated successfully, follow any extra step it displays (see the next section), then confirm the versions read L: 01.00.154 · R: 01.00.217.

That's it for most keyboards.

If the app asks you to remove and re-pair the keyboard

Some updates change the keyboard's Bluetooth security or layout — for example, moving from firmware 01.00.200 to the current version turns on secure pairing. When that happens the app tells you at the end of the update, and Windows needs a fresh introduction:

  1. Open Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Devices, find Flow Keyboard, click the ⋯ menu and choose Remove device. If you see more than one Flow Keyboard entry, remove all of them.
  2. Turn the keyboard off and on, and press a key on each half.
  3. Open the NUIO app. It scans and lists the keyboard — click it. When a six-digit code appears, type it on the Flow Keyboard and press Enter.
  4. The keyboard page should now show L: 01.00.154 · R: 01.00.217, and settings will work again.

The app also shows this advice on its own if it ever notices that Windows is holding an outdated record of the keyboard (the usual signs: settings that don't respond, or a missing left-half version).

If the update stops partway

Bluetooth can hiccup. The app keeps what it has already downloaded and installed:

  1. Click Try Again — the update resumes where it stopped.
  2. If it fails again right away, turn the keyboard off and on, wait for the app to reconnect, and click Try Again once more.
  3. If it still won't complete, click Show Log at the bottom of the app window, copy the log text, and email it to support@hellonuio.com.
If the keyboard won't pair or connect at all
  1. In Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Devices, remove every Flow Keyboard entry, then turn Bluetooth off and on again.
  2. Restart your PC.
  3. Turn the keyboard off and on, press a key on each half, and pair it again from the NUIO app or Add device, typing the six-digit code on the Flow Keyboard.
